INDIA HANDS-OVER 100 MT LMO AND 300 OXYGEN CONCENTRATORS TO INDONESIA AS PART OF HUMANITARIAN AID

 

Ambassador of India to Indonesia, H E Manoj Kumar Bharti handed over 100 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen and 300 Oxygen concentrators to Indonesia. This shipment has arrived from India as a part of humanitarian assistance to help Indonesia in its fight against the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

 

As part of Government of India’s and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of SAGAR (Security And Growth for All in the Region), the Indian Navy launched Operation Samudra Setu which has undertaken humanitarian repatriation for stranded personnel in the IOR during its Phase-I. In the Phase-II, it has focused on providing the medical and health related relief.

 

INS Airavat, an indigenous built Landing Ship Tank (LST) of the Indian Navy carried the aid from the Head Quarter of India’s Eastern Naval Command- Visakhapatnam to Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta and it arrived in Indonesia on the 24th July, 2021. The External Affairs Minister of India, Dr. S Jaishankar noted that India stands with its partner in fight against COVID-19.

 

During the ceremony, the Ambassador handed over the medical aid to Dr. Eka Jusup Singka, Head, Crisis Centre of Ministry of Health, Indonesia in presence of dignitaries from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesia, Indonesian Navy, and PT Pertamina.

 

The Ambassador expressed satisfaction that India could assist its good friend Indonesia. He reiterated the importance India attaches to the friendship with its long standing partner by reiterating the words of Hon’ble President of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo towards India- “A friend in need is a friend indeed”. He expressed hope that this token of assistance from India could play its part in managing the COVID-19 crisis in Indonesia.

 

Dr. Eka Jusup Singka expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Government of India for assisting Indonesia by sending the essential medical aid in the form of Liquid Medical Oxygen and Oxygen concentrators.

 

This assistance represents a form of support and solidarity from the people and the Government of India towards Indonesia, which has taken pro-active steps in managing the COVID-19 pandemic. This assistance also represents the good relationship between the two countries. India remains committed to partnership with the government and people of Indonesia to not only overcome the pandemic situation, but also in other various sectors of cooperation.
