Buyer Seller Meet - Millets and Buffalo Meat

 Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in association with Embassy of India, Jakarta, Indonesia organized a Buyer-Seller Meet(BSM) on buffalo meat and millets in Jakarta at Hotel Kempinski on 13th December, 2022 and in Medan at Hotel JW Marriott on 15th December, 2022.  Chairman, APEDA Dr. M Angamuthu led a delegation of 40 exporters both from buffalo meat and millets for participation in this program.  Ambassador of India to Indonesia and Timor-Leste H.E. Mr. Manoj Kumar Bharti inaugurated the BSM. Concerned importers were invited by the Embassy at Jakarta. They participated in this event and interacted with the exporters.

 2. The samples of millets sent by the exporters were displayed during the BSM which had generated lot of interest among the participants in the BSM. Each exporter interacted with the importers invited by the Embassy, tasted the product and appreciated the quality and taste of the product. There were more than 40 exporters of buffalo meat participated in this event who had interacted with the importers. The exporter have assured about the consistent supply of quality frozen halal certified de-boned, de-glanded buffalo meat at reasonable price to Indonesia.

 3. A video film on buffalo meat processing and millet products, covering the export to different destination was shown. It created awareness among the participants about quality control and hygienic conditions maintained during the processing and the nutritive value of the products. A beautiful display of Indian millets and its value added products was set up and the same was appreciated by Indonesian buyers.

 4. Chairman, APEDA in his keynote address mentioned about the strong trade partnership between India and Indonesia. He assured the concerned importers about a consistent and quality supply of agri products by Indian exporters. It was informed that under the International year of Millets in 2023, APEDA would be focusing on promoting Indian millets aggressively in the Indonesian market, and for making millets available to common masses in the form of millet based cuisines.

 5. Ambassador Bharti addressed the representatives of Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Agriculture and various business associations as well as Indian and Indonesian companies. He emphasized on enhancement of the mutual cooperation between Indian and Indonesian business entities to promote the Indian bovine meat and millets in Indonesia. Signifying the nutritional value of millets, Ambassador Bharti said that on the initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the United Nations has declared the year 2023 as the International Year of Millets. Since India is the major production country of millet, it may assist Indonesia to diversify from crops like wheat and rice to crops like millet. He also informed that in 2023, an exclusive millets focussed event will be organised with APEDA.

 6. During the program, lunch with millet recipes like Eggplant hummus with pita bread and Grilled Mediterranean Vegetable were served which was well relished by the participants.
