14th International Railway Equipment Exhibition

        The next edition of IREE - 14th International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE 2021) is scheduled from 21-23 October 2021 at New Delhi.  It is being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with the Ministry of Railways, Government of India. IREE serves as a Global Platform for Railway Technology & Services.  This is the largest event for the Rail Transportation Sector in this part of the world.

    IREE is the only event in India for the Rail Transportation Sector with active involvement and participation of Indian Railways, which is the third largest rail network in the world, operating over 12,000 trains to carry over 23 million passengers per day connecting about 8000 stations spread across India.  Indian Railways run 7000 freight trains per day carrying over 3 million tonnes of freight every day. With its continuous upgradation and modernisation plans, Indian Railways offers opportunities in Suburban corridor projects, High Speed train projects, dedicated freight lines – port/mining lines, rolling stock including train sets and locomotives/ coaches manufacturing and maintenance, railway electrification, signalling systems, improvement of terminals and managing freight terminals and development of passenger terminals.

   Indian Railways (IR) will put up the largest IR Pavilion at IREE, showcasing its strengths and future requirements including development of new vendors and suppliers for its modernisation plans.  Senior IR representatives – decision makers and technical experts - will visit IREE to identify suitable vendors and future product suppliers for Indian Railways.  In addition to the IR Pavilion, IREE attracts participation of over 500 companies from 20 countries spread across an area of around 30,000 sq mtrs. 

    International Rail Conference (IRC 2021), an international conference for the rail transportation sector, is also being organised concurrently with IREE 2021 which would be addressed by experts from India and overseas, to update on the latest innovations and suitable upgradation technologies for Indian Railways.  IRC is expected to be attended by over 500 delegates from Indian Railways and the Rail Transportation Industry.

The global economy continues to operate under the spectre of COVID-19, though the worst of the pandemic seems to have passed in most countries. The Indo-Pacific region is recovering from its worst recession in living memory. The Asia-Pacific region went into this crisis first and many of its economies are emerging from it first as well. Despite some signs of rapid growth in some parts of Asia-Pacific, not all countries are bouncing back at the same speed. This is 'multispeed' recovery is outlined in the IMF's latest Regional Economic Outlook. Business sentiment among Asian firms rebounded in the third quarter as easing coronavirus restrictions lifted sales. Asian firms’ outlook for the next six months tracked by the Thomson Reuters/INSEAD Asian Business Sentiment Index jumped to 53 in the third quarter from an 11-year low of 35 in the second, according to the survey of 103 companies across 11 Asia-Pacific countries. It was also higher than the 50-point mark, which indicates a positive outlook. To capture emerging business opportunities in post-Covid situation, it is pre-requisite for both Government and market players to remain prepared in advance and try to get a feel of the newly evolved market trends.

Textile expo

Reserve Bank of India, the central bank of the country, performs the statutory function of issuance of banknotes. The Bank intends to set up an Automated Banknote Processing Centre (ABPC). This centre would be a greenfield project aimed at maximizing the operational efficiencies involved in receipt and issue/ circulation/ verification and processing of banknotes involving automated storage and retrieval techniques, etc.

The Bank has decided to engage a consultant with requisite experience, for the planning/ establishment and operationalization of ABPC.  In order to engage a consultant, the Bank has sought a Request for Proposal (RFP) from the interested applicants having the necessary expertise and experience. The RFP is available on the Bank’s website and can be accessed at www.rbi.org.in/Tenders.  In order to encourage wide participation, a short advertisement of the RFP has been published in the international publications viz. The 5th edition of Global Exhibition on Services (GES) 2019 is being organised by Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India in partnership with the Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) from 12th - 14th September 2019 at the Palace Grounds, Bengaluru, Karnataka.


The GES 2018 was a collective success with participation from about 100 countries, 500 overseas delegates, over 628 exhibitors and more than 7000 structured B2B Meetings.  At this edition, the Hon'ble President of India formally launched the 12 Champion Services Sector.  The upcoming GES 2019 will provide a platform for forging sustained partnerships amongst countries in the identified champion services sectors.  these include Information Technology & Information Technology enabled Services (IT & ITeS), Tourism and Hospitality Services, Medical Value Travel, Transport and Logistics Services, Accounting and Finance Services, Audio Visual Services, Legal Services, Communication Services, Construction and Related Engineering Services, Environmental Services, Financial Services and Education Services.  This event is expected to have participation from about 100 countries and will host focussed knowledge sessions and a large number of B2B, B2G and B2C meetings.  An active participation from Indian State Governments and Union Territories is also expected.

Observer Research Foundation has announced the ninth edition of CyFy India: The Conference on Technology, Security and Society. The conference will be held at the Taj Man Singh Hotel in New Delhi, India from October 14-16, 2019.


Given the scale and intensity of technological change, it is imperative for gatherings like CyFy to discuss and understand opportunities, threats, and possibilities that digitisation hold for our societies.Over the last eight editions of the conference — six in New Delhi and two in Morocco — they have incubated a diverse community of scholars and practitioners who can frame, articulate, and analyse the social and strategic dimensions of digital technologies.
