Relaxation of Visa and Travel Restrictions for Foreign Tourists

  1. Keeping in view the improvement in COVID-19 situation in India, the Government of India has decided to ease restrictions on visa for foreign tourists as follows:
  • All foreign nationals intending to visit India for tourism purposes will be allowed entry on e-Tourist visa/ Tourist Visa through chartered flights (group tourism only) from 15 October 2021.
  • All individual foreign nationals intending to travel to India for tourism purposes by flights other than chartered aircraft will be allowed entry on e- Tourist Visa/ Tourist Visa from 15 November 2021.
  1. The above mentioned relaxation will be applicable only to e-Tourist Visa/ Touristvisaissued on or after 6 October 2021.
  2. Foreign nationals may be granted fresh single entry e-Tourist/ regular Tourist visa for 30 days.
  3. Foreign nationals would be permitted to enter India by water routes or by flights, including those under Vande Bharat Mission or air bubble scheme or by any scheduled / non-scheduled commercial flights as followed by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
  4. The foreign nationals shall be permitted to enter India by sea routes or by flights. However, such foreign nationals will not be permitted to enter through land Integrated Check Posts (ICPs).  
  5. All due protocols and norms relating to COVID-19 as notified by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shall be adhered to by the foreign tourists.
